And the best way to burn fat is...
Actually, there is no best way. There are many ways to skin that cat.
But there are a few necessary ingredients in any intelligent fat burning plan.
The main one (outside of nutrition), is strength training.
This surprises a lot of people. When you think weight loss (or fat loss), cardio might be the first thing that jumps into your mind. And for good reason. Cardio is very helpful.
But cardio is really just the icing on the cake, and strength training is the cake.
One of the most common traps people fall into is the cardio trap. The cardio trap has you doing nothing but cardio in pursuit of a leaner, healthier body. That's like icing without the cake (I actually kinda like icing without the cake...but I'm weird like that).
Your results will improve drastically when you incorporate a solid strength training plan.
My client Erik incorporated strength training with his cycling. The results: he's lost 1-2 lbs per week for the last 10 weeks.
My client Alissa has gotten so lean she can now see her abs and muscle definition in her arms. She did this with no cardio at all.
What If I Don't Want to Get Too Bulky?
This is still the number one reason why most women shy away from strength training. The fear of becoming bulky, muscley, or 'manly'.
I get that. Fitness marketing towards women has perpetuated this concern (myth).
Let's put that to rest so you can finally start making all those amazing changes to your body you want to make. Take a look at the picture below.
This picture shows us what 5 lbs of fat looks like next to 5 lbs of muscle. The 5 lbs of muscle is much smaller than the glob of fat.
So picture this. You could lose 25 lbs of fat, and at the same time gain 25 lbs of muscle, only you would look completely different. In fact, you would be much smaller, leaner and appear more toned.
Not only that, but you would be stronger, healthier, and your metabolism would be cranked up to high.
Strength training is not only helpful when it comes to getting lean and healthy, it's a crucial ingredient.
