Fall is easily distinguished by a few key characteristics.
The leaves change color, the temperature cools down, you can smell what can only be described as 'camp fire' in the air, and the gyms clear out.
It's almost as if everyone with a fitness goal decides that fall time is the perfect place to put that goal on hold until New Year's day. Or is it the first signs of spring you're waiting for?
I get it, the kids are going back to school which means back-to-school shopping, helping with homework, and any other free time is spoken for by decorating the house with pumpkins and ghosts.
The problem is you're actually squandering the best time of the year to make some amazing progress.
Since everyone else has the same idea, which is to forget about the gym until the hallmark calendar tells them it's time to set a goal and go after it, means the gyms are pretty empty. There are only a few things in life more exciting than an empty gym (OK there are a lot of things, but an empty gym is pretty sweet).
Also, here is a little secret (one weird trick, you could say) about goal setting. If you pick a future date in which to start working towards your goal, you're procrastinating in the worst way. You need to start today, because choosing a date (like Jan 1st 2016 for example) in the future shows a lack of dedication, and as we know, dedication is the name of this game. (If you're reading this, and you have a fitness goal you plan on getting to in the future, stop right here. Plan out two healthy meals and a trip to the gym and execute these three things TODAY!)
Worse yet, waiting until the first signs of spring to get 'apartment complex pool ready' means it's already too late (for this year at least).
A great looking physique is earned through hundreds of workouts, thousands of reps, and thousands of quality meals. If you would like to look significantly different by the time summer 2016 rolls around, you absolutely need to start now.
Finally, fall season, also known as 'hoodie season', allows you to make massive progress throughout the colder part of the year while wearing heavier clothing, like hoodies (oh so THAT'S why they call it that!). This means you can focus on executing your plan without a heavy focus on the end result. This is a huge advantage, and to find out why focusing on the end goal too much is dangerous, click here.
Fall is the perfect time to tackle a fitness goal, but no matter what time of the year it is when you read this, start now. Don't set a date in the future, because there will always be another reason why you need to put it off and start later.
Start by executing the dedication necessary to accomplish your goals in the long run, and start with some conviction. Start today.
