A hard working farmer went out to his barn at 5:00 a.m. one morning to do his chores.
As he walked past the nest of his pet goose, something shiny caught his eye. As he approached the nest he say that it was a golden egg!
Not being one to count his golden eggs before they hatch, he took it to town to get appraised.
It was solid gold!
What's even better, the next morning when the farmer went out to the barn he saw that his pet goose has laid ANOTHER golden egg!
This continued day after day, and the farmer became extremely wealthy.
As time went on, the farmer grew impatient, and decided that he wasn't going to wait each day for his golden egg.
He went out to the barn, killed the goose, and opened it up.
It was empty, and clearly would never produce golden eggs again.
We can clearly see where the farmer went wrong here, but can we see how we may be killing our own golden egg producing goose?
The farmer became so focused on the production of the golden eggs that he ended up killing that which produces the golden eggs.
Your quality of life depends so much on your ability to produce.
Your production at work and in business, the quality of your relationships with your family, friends, clients, associates, your health and general well being.
Too often we become enthralled in the production and forget all about what actually produces those golden eggs.
I used to wake up, and b-line to the computer and start working. I got a lot done, but eventually my creativity waned, I was more fatigued, the quality of my coaching conversations suffered, and my messages weren't very powerful.
Recently I have dedicated myself to what I call my morning power hour. This consists of meditation of some form, and reading some amazing books.
I start work a little later now, but my goose (me) is primed for production, and is producing much more golden eggs than if I just kept trying to cut myself open and dig all the eggs.
Are you taking care of the goose that produces your golden eggs? Well planned workouts, high quality nutrition, rest, recovery and stress management are all amazing ways to take care of yourself. You will not just maintain your production of life's golden eggs, but improve the quality and quantity of them.
