I'm frequently asked questions about losing weight and building muscle, and too often whenever I offer a piece of advice, the first thing they do is explain to me why they can't do it.
"You see Mitch, the way my schedule is set up..."
This response is within their control, but it isn't totally their fault. If this is something you're guilty of, it's not your fault either. This is the result of years of conditioning.
But if this is the case, more solutions and information is the last thing you need.
If you're presented with a solution and your first reaction is to find reasons why you can't do it, then you need to address your mentality first.
A resourceful mindset will take you farther than all the factual knowledge in the world.
Instead of looking for reasons why you can't do something, train yourself to search for reasons why you can.
The keys to executing on this are 1) making a deliberate decision to change your focus and 2) bravery.
Progress and evolution is scary because we're wired to avoid anything that could be painful or uncomfortable.
So get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable.
Start saying, "Hell yeah I can do that" when you would otherwise say, "I don't know, we'll see."
Comfort is always the enemy of progress, so get one foot outside your comfort zone and make yourself at home.
