Many people add fitness into their life with the intention on improving it. Too often, the addition of fitness causes more anxiety, stress, and feelings of not being good enough.
This is because most people spend too much time focusing on their goals once they're established.
Goals are there to give you direction. They're like your compass, aiming you the right way.
Once you establish your goals, to keep focusing on them will create feelings of discouragement. You will constantly be comparing yourself with what you want to become. All you will see is this giant gap between you and where you want to go.
You can only keep something up for so long if it causes you feelings of discouragement, but here is a solution.
Once you establish your goals, and lay out you plan, then forget your goals.
Instead, do the actions within the plan with total detachment from the outcome.
This will create a feeling of fulfillment and accomplishment, which will create a powerful source of motivation.
Constantly staring at a gap between where you are and where you want to be is not motivating. It can be demoralizing.
But doing the daily actions, making small steps and creating daily wins will create a constant source of motivation which will drive you to success.
